SIBU, 27 JUNE 2012 - All 377 water supply projects under the National Key Result Area (NKRA) in the state and costing a total of RM1.7 billion will be ready by next year.
State Assistant Minister of Public Utilities (Water Supply), Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran said currently, about three quarters of the projects had been implemented.
He had earlier opened a three-day workshop on 'Modernisation of Sarawak Water Supply', here, today attended by more than 70 water experts from three water authorities and the Public Works Department (PWD).
He said the projects included new water treatment plants or upgrading of existing ones for increased capacity and laying of pipes to new growth areas.
On the current water shortage problem faced by people in the state, he said it was confined to the rural areas due to the current drought which was expected to last until September.
