25 JULY 2012 - As part of the improving rural development NKRA's 21st Century Village (21CV) programme, young Malaysians may receive up to RM2 million in financial aid to develop businesses in rural areas by taking part in the Rural Business Challenge competition organised by PEMANDU.
The competition allowed young people to engage as active partners in the government's efforts to develop entrepreneurialism.
Other than that, Minister in Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Idris Jala notes a sustainable rural economy will also be developed under the umbrella of the 21CV programme.
He added that the 21CV programme will include developing large-scale modern agricultural farms, upgrading eco or agro-tourism villages, enhancing the production of oil palm, rubber and sago plantations, and strengthening of cottage industries.
