KUALA LUMPUR, 25 APRIL 2015 – Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak will address the nation at 8.30pm, Tuesday, 26 April 2016 on the country’s transformation journey and subsequently launch the National Transformation Programme (NTP) Annual Report 2015. In 2010, Malaysia embarked on an ambitious 10-year transformation plan. Anchored on the aspirations of Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak’s New Economic Model, the NTP was launched to drive Malaysia towards high income status by 2020 through sustainable and inclusive measures.
Over the last six years, tremendous transformational momentum has been gained in some key socio-economic areas under the NTP. These include strengthening the foundations for sustainable economic growth, improving public service delivery, creating a globally competitive business environment and establishing more efficient safety nets that ensure improved quality of living for Malaysians.
The NTP has resulted in positive outcomes for Malaysians from many factions in society. Opportunities for economic empowerment have been delivered, rural as well as urban infrastructure has seen vast improvement compared to five years ago, and the Government has reinvented itself in several areas to create ‘customer-oriented’ public service delivery.
In addition to success stories of Malaysians whose lives have been transformed via the NTP, the Prime Minister’s speech will focus on progress recorded under the programme in 2015 and the last five years as a result of the NTP implementation via the National Key Result areas under the Government Transformation Programme and Economic Transformation Programme’s National Key Economic Areas and Strategic Reform Initiatives.
